NEWBA Announces Weekly Awards for January 29

O'Day led Framingham State to a 2-0 week, averaging 23 points, 11 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game. She opened the week with 24 points, nine boards, one steal & one assist as the Rams rolled to a 77-41 victory at MCLA on Thursday. O'Day followed that up by posting a double-double with 22 points, 13 boards, eight assists & four steals on Saturday in a 90-63 win at Fitchburg State. For the week, she shot 44.4 percent from the field and 76.9 percent from the free throw line.

In Curry's only game last week, Perine scored a season-high 25 points and collected 11 rebounds as the Colonels fell to Endicott, 62-52 on Saturday. Perine made a season-high nine free throws in the contest, going 9-for-14 at the charity stripe.

  • Emily Benway, Saint Joseph's (Maine) (Senior | Forward | Rochester, N.H.) - Benway posted averages of 16 points and 12 rebounds per game while shooting 60.9% (14-of-23) from the floor in two GNAC wins for the Monks last week. She shot 9-for-10 from the field with 20 points and nine boards in a key 77-63 win over Suffolk on Saturday. The senior forward also turned in a double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds in a 72-45 victory at Simmons on Thursday.
  • Lauren Bondi, Smith (Senior | Guard | Burnaby, B.C.) - Bondi had a big offensive week with 24 points per game on 57.8% shooting from the field and 58.3% from long range as Smith went 3-0. Bondi opened her week with 18 points, five assists, three steals and two rebounds against Williams on Tuesday as the Pioneers defeated the Ephs for the first time since 2013. She then scored 28 points to go with three rebounds and two assists in an 83-59 victory over Coast Guard on Wednesday, before totaling 26 points, four assists and four boards in a 66-49 triumph at Wellesley on Saturday. She averaged 3.7 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game for the week. 
  • Alexis Hackett, Suffolk (Junior | Guard | Charlton, Mass.) - Hackett registered a pair of double-doubles while averaging 16.7 points (on 58.1% shooting), 12.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game in a 2-1 week for the Rams. After scoring 21 points, grabbing 19 boards, handing out five assists and blocking three shots in a 70-56 win over Regis on Tuesday, she finished with 17 points, 11 rebounds and two steals on Thursday in an 87-61 victory over Anna Maria. In her final game of the week on Saturday, Hackett recorded 12 points, six boards, six assists & two steals as Suffolk fell to Saint Joseph's (Maine), 77-63.
  • Mikayla Pucci, Wheaton (Sophomore | Forward | Hopkinton, Mass.) - Pucci helped the Lyons to a 1-1 week with averages of 23.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. She scored 17 points and collected six boards in a 60-51 loss at Emerson on Wednesday, before notching a double-double with 29 points, ten rebounds and three assists on Saturday in an 81-61 triumph over Clark. 
  • Gracie Restituyo, Springfield (Senior | Forward | Barrington, R.I.) - Restituyo posted a pair of double-double efforts while averaging 15.5 points and 16.0 rebounds per game in a 2-0 week for the Pride. She scored 19 points and grabbed ten boards on Tuesday in a 75-22 win at Mount Holyoke, and then turned in a 12-point, 22-rebound performance in Saturday's 52-43 victory over Emerson. 
  • Catherine Sweeney, Worcester State (Junior | Guard | Lowell, Mass.) - Sweeney had strong all-around numbers with 11.7 points, 10.7 rebounds and 7.3 assists per game in a 3-0 week for the Lancers. Her top performance of the week came on Thursday, when Sweeney logged an impressive triple-double with 17 points, 19 rebounds, 11 assists and two blocks in a 94-79 win over MASCAC-leading Westfield State. She also recorded ten points, six assists, two steals and two rebounds in Tuesday's 63-50 victory at Bridgewater State, and wrapped up her week on Saturday with eight points, 11 boards, five assists, two steals and two blocks in a 57-53 win over Salem State.
