Junior forward Haley Jordan of the University of Southern Maine has earned the Jordan NEWBA/PrestoSports Player of the Week award after averaging 20.3 points and 5.0 rebounds per game from December 12 - January 8. Jordan converted 52.8% (28-53) of her shots from the field and 78.6% (22-28) of her free throw attempts to lead the Huskies to a perfect 4-0 mark. The forward also chipped in with 13 steals and eight assists. Jordan was named Most Valuable Player of the Southern Maine Holiday Invitational after helping her team claim the title with thrilling wins over the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and Babson College. The junior opened up the tournament with 27 points on 11-of-16 shooting from the floor in the Huskies' 78-75 triumph over MCLA on December 30. One day later, she helped her team claim the championship with 14 points and eight rebounds in a 68-66 win over nationally-ranked Babson. Jordan added 19 points in an 82-60 victory over Husson College and 21 points in a 65-58 win over Keene State College last week.

Eastern Connecticut State University first year forward Shannon McCourt McCourt has earned the NEWBA Rookie of the Week award after piling up 22.3 points and 13.7 rebounds per game from December 12 - January 8. McCourt knocked down 40.7% (22-54) of her shots from the floor and 79.3% (23-29) of her free throws. She finished with double-doubles in all three of her team's games. The forward was at her best on Saturday, when she led the Warriors to a 73-58 triumph over Plymouth State University. In addition to pouring in a career-best 28 points, she also pulled down 13 boards. McCourt collected 21 points and 11 rebounds against Connecticut College on Monday. Two days later, she came up with a career-high 17 rebounds to go with 18 points at SUNY New Paltz.

  • Sarah Collins, Babson College (Jr, C, Weymouth, Mass.) - Collins led the nationally-ranked Beavers to a 3-1 mark with her outstanding all-around play. The center averaged a double-double on 15.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game while converting 59.6% (28-47) of her shots from the floor. She earned All-Tournament honors at the University of Southern Maine Holiday Invitational.
  • Rachael Mack, Colby College (Sr, F, Augusta, Maine) - Mack piled up 15.3 points and 8.7 rebounds per game to lead the Mules to a 3-0 record. With her 20 points against Bates College on Monday, she became the 15th player in program history to surpass 1,000 in her career. The forward has also amassed 102 blocked shots, 109 steals and 118 assists in her career. 
  • Colleen Moriarty, University of Massachusetts Dartmouth (Jr, F, Canton, Mass.) - Moriarty tallied 18.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 4.3 blocked shots per game in leading the Corsairs to a 2-1 record. She was at her best on December 13, when she racked up 25 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks in a 61-46 triumph over Johnson and Wales University.
  • Tara Gabelman, Connecticut College (So, F, Irvington, N.Y.) - Gabelman collected 16.5 points and 12.8 rebounds per game to lead the Camels to a 3-1 record. The forward posted double-doubles in all four contests and also finished with five blocked shots. Gabelman recorded 17 points, 16 rebounds and three blocks in a 54-41 victory over Roger Williams University on December 13. 
  • Sam Goda, Maine Maritime Academy (Sr, F, Eliot, Maine) - Goda led the Mariners to a 2-2 record with her 16.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. After earning a spot on the All-Tournament Team at the Mariner Classic, she poured in a career-best 27 points to lead her team to a 68-59 triumph over Colby-Sawyer College on Friday. In the process, she reached the 1,000-point milestone.

  • Senior forward Jen Wehner became MCLA's all-time leading scorer with her 16 points against the University of Wisconsin Stout on December 31. Over the course of her outstanding career, the forward has racked up 1,345 points. The previous record holder was Pam Barton, who finished her career with 1,321 points. One day, earlier, Wehner became the first player in program history to reach 1,000 career rebounds.
