O'Connor averaged 18.7 points and 11.7 rebounds while shooting 56 percent from the floor in a 3-0 week for the Rams. Scored 25 points with 14 boards in a 68-57 win over Connecticut College. Scored 24 points with 10 rebounds in a 75-66 win over St. Lawrence and seven points with 11 rebounds in a 56-53 win over Middlebury.

Allyn averaged 18.3 points during a 3-0 week for WPI. The rookie began her week Tuesday by canning 5-of-7 shots from floor as the Engineers defeated Regis 62-34 in their 2023-24 home opener. She then erupted for a career-high 20 points as the Crimson and Gray went on road Thursday and outscored host UMass Boston by 21 points in a 67-40 victory over the Beacons. Allyn promptly set a new career scoring best on Saturday, registering 24 points as WPI went to Nashua, NH and knocked off Rivier 73-53. The guard shot 58.3% (21-of-36) from the floor and drained eight 3-pointers during the trio of victories.

 

NEWBA First Team
  • Haley Brewster, Norwich (Jr. | Guard | Virginia Beach, VA) - Brewster averaged 26.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 3.0 steals per game as she helped Norwich to a 2-1 record against intrastate competition.  She scored more than 20 points in each contest, starting with 25 points against Vermont State University Castleton. She made at least three three-pointers in each contest.
  • Arianna Gerig, Williams (Jr. | Forward | Westport, CT) - Gerig averaged 26.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.5 steals in a 1-1 weekend for the Ephs in the Morin Memorial Tournament. In the two games, Gerig shot 19-for-39 (48.7%) from the field and 13-for-15 from the foul line (86.7%). The junior scored a game-high 35 points and tied for a game-high eight rebounds in a 66-65 loss to Rhode Island College in the championship game. Gerig was 12-for-25 from the field and 11-for-12 from the free-throw line. Gerig scored a game-high 17 points, to go along with eight rebounds and five assists, in a 77-50 win over Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday.
  • Elise Magro, Vermont State Castleton (Sr. | Guard | Rutland, VT) - Magro went off again in week two, averaging 25.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.7 steals per game to lead Castleton to a 2-1 record. On Tuesday night, Magro dropped a career-high 32 points on the road at Norwich to lead Castleton to a come-from-behind win after trailing by as many as eight points in the fourth quarter. She had 25 points in the second half after spending much of the first half on the bench with foul trouble. On Friday night, Magro had a team-leading 16 points against SUNY Potsdam. On Saturday, she led the way once again with 28 points in a victory over SUNY Plattsburgh. She shot 43.8% on the week and hit 88.9% at the free throw line.
  • Lauren Romito, Suffolk (Gr. | Forward | Hauppauge, NY) - Romito contributed a 16-point, 11-rebound double-double in the victory over Eastern Nazarene. The forward from Hauppauge, New York, shot 5-for-7 from the floor and 6-for-8 from the line and added three blocks and a pair of assists in the triumph. Her Suffolk career-high in points, field goals made, free throws made and rebound pushed the blue-and-gold to a 2-0 start for the first time since 2015-16
  • Taylor Salato, Eastern Connecticut (Jr. | Forward | East Haven, CT)  - Last week, Salato recorded double-double in each game. In two games, she averaged 22.5 points and 12 rebounds and totaled five assists, three blocks and three steals. The six-foot forward shot 62.5 percent from the floor and was 5-of-6 from the foul line. In a 73-61 consolation win over Regis College, Salato had a career-high 30 points to go along with 11 rebounds, three steals, two assists and a blocked shot. She was 13-of-18 from the floor and 4-of-4 from the stripe in that game. She is 16-fo-17 from the foul line this year and is shooting 57.1 percent from the floor.

  • Teja Andrews, UMass Dartmouth (Sr. | Guard | Plymouth, MA) - Andrews was named the Lafrance Hospitality Tournament's Most Outstanding Player, leading UMass Dartmouth to a championship in their home tournament with a win over the #4 team in the country in Smith College. Her impact on both sides of the ball made the difference in three wins over the week for the Corsairs.
  • Maddy Foster, Wentworth (Jr | Forward | Lewiston, ME) - Foster set a program single-game record, shooting .895 from the floor in the Leopards 75-33 win over Dean. Her 17 field goals made (on 19 attempts) tied a program single-game mark and she finished the game with a double-double (36 points, 11 rebounds), with her 36 points establishing a new career high. She also had three assists and three steals.
  • Jordan Franzen, UNE (Sr. | Guard | Salem, NH) - Franzen finished with 24 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals in the Nor'Easters win over Saint Joseph's of Maine. 
  • Bri Frongillo, Emerson (So. | Guard | Hopedale, MA) - Frongillo averaged 22 points, 2.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists in a 2-1 week for the Lions. She shot 57% from the floor and 50% from three-point range.
  • Maggie Russell, Tufts (Sr. | Forward | Morristown, NJ) - Russell helped the Jumbos to a pair of wins against New England opposition, as Tufts knocked off Roger Williams and Brandeis to finish the week 2-0. The forward averaged 17.5 points and 8.5 rebounds for the Jumbos, adding five assists while going 11-of-13 at the free-throw line. Russell also went 11-fo-20 from the floor (55.0%) for the week. Against RWU, Russell finished with 21 points, nine rebounds while going 7-of-12 in 28 minutes and totaled 14 points and eight rebounds, adding four helpers in 15 minutes of action against Brandeis.
