DeAngelis became the 18th member of Suffolk's 1000 point club with her 15th point at Endicott Saturday. She also became the 13th Ram in a Suffolk uniform to eclipse 1000 points and 500 rebounds in her career. Recorded career highs in points (32) and field goals made in the overtime victory over the Gulls. DeAngelis had double-doubles in both games to bring her season total to 13 and career total to 29.

Sophomore • Forward • Wells, ME

Ramsdell averaged 16.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 1.0 steals in a 2-0 conference week for the Monks. The sophomore forward scored 17 points and shot 63.6% (7-11) from the field in a win over New England College on Wednesday and added 16 points and seven rebounds in a victory at Anna Maria College on Saturday. For the week, Ramsdell shot 56.5% (13-23) from the floor and 85.7% (6-7) from the FT line ad accumulated her stats while logging only 23.5 minutes per game.

 

 

NEWBA First Team
  • Gwendolyn Carpenter, Framingham St. (Sr. | Guard | Ashley Falls, MA) - Registered a triple-double of 21 points, a team high 12 assists, and 11 rebounds in pivotal conference win 83-79 over Westfield State. Scored seven with nine assists in a lopsided win over Fitchburg.
  • Lyric Grumblatt, Rivier (Sr. | Guard | Manchester, NH) - Grumblatt helped Rivier to a 1-1 week in GNAC play after averaging 28.5 points on 52.4% field goal shooting (including 41.2% three-point shooting) while also averaging 9.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals, 2.0 assists, and 0.5 blocks per game. Grumblatt registed a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds in a mid-week loss to Lasell. In a 20-point victory over JWU on Saturday, Grumblatt poured in 34 points with eight rebounds and four steals.
  • Maggie Russell, Tufts (Sr. | Forward | Morristown, NJ) - Russell averaged 27.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game for the Jumbos as Tufts defeated Williams while falling to Middlebury in triple overtime. For the weekend, Russell shot 51.4 percent from the field while going 13-of-18 at the free-throw line. Russell posted a double-double of 29 points and 11 rebounds against Williams Friday night, shooting 11-of-20 from the field, and then tallied 25 points against Middlebury and pulled in seven boards ibefore fouling out.
  • Rachel Vinton, Springfield (Sr. | Guard | Holden, MA) - Vinton powered Springfield to two more NEWMAC victories as the Pride pushed its season record to 15-4. In two outings, the graduate student averaged 17.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.0 steals per outing while shooting 65% from the floor and 71% from beyond the arc. She started the week with 15 points, including the game-winning bucket in the final seconds, to help the Pride knock off No. 11/17 Smith and snap the Pioneers 37-game conference-winning streak. In Saturday's win over Wheaton, she stuffed her stat sheet with 20 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and three steals to help the Pride to a win.
  • Carly Whiteside, UMass Dartmouth (Sr. | Forward | Barnstable, MA) - Whiteside had a dominant week that led the #24 ranked Corsairs to another 2-0 week with conference wins over Eastern Connecticut and Plymouth State. In a 77-48 win over Eastern, Whiteside posted 18 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. She shot 7 for 16 from the floor and went 4 for 5 from the free throw line. In a 77-56 win over Plymouth State, Whiteside scored a game-high 22 points on 87.5% efficiency. She went 6 for 7 from the field, 9 for 11 from the free throw line, and made her only three-point attempt. She also hauled in 8 rebounds and blocked two shots. For the week, Whiteside Averaged 20.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 2.0 blocked shots. She went 13 for 23 from the field (56.5%) and 13 for 16 from the free throw line (81.3%).

  • Sophia Gaucher, Bridgewater St. (Sr. | Forward | Lakeville, MA) - Scored 21 points on 8 of 12 (66.7%) shooting and added eight rebounds (five offensive), two assists, two steals and two blocked shots in the Bears' decisive 100-70 MASCAC win over Salem State University.
  • Sophia Guerrier, RIC (Sr. | Guard | Waltham, MA) - Guerrier helped the third-ranked Anchorwomen improve their program-record win streak to 20 games as a 2-0 week propelled RIC to a 20-0 overall record and an 11-0 mark in league play. She shot .571 (16-for-28) from the field and averaged 18.5 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 1.0 apg and 2.5 spg. Guerrier has 21 points, seven boards and five steals in a 76-47 win over Southern Maine on Jan. 24. She has 16 points and eight boards in 22 minutes as RIC defeated UMass Boston, 71-55, on Jan. 27.
  • Emma Novajasky, WNEU (jr. | Guard | Farmington, CT) - Put together two career games this week, leading Western New England to two victories.  Scored 17 points on 6/11 shooting, including 3/4 from deep while snatching seven rebounds in a win over Roger Williams University to snap a seven games losing skid to the Hawks, defeating the 2023 CCC Champs to take sole possesion of first place. The 17 points were a career high for Novajasky.  Went on to drop 20 points, a new career high in a weekend win over CCC opponent NIchols College. Shot 7/8 from the field and 1/1 from deep while recording three rebounds and three assists in the win.  WNE holds the top spot in the CCC women's basketball standings after a 2-0 week.
  • Kamsi Nwogu, MIT (Jr. | Forward | Algonquin, IL) - In a 3-0 week for MIT, Kamsi Nwogu averaged 14.0 points, 10.7 rebounds, 3.0 steals, 2.0 assists, and 1.0 blocks. She compiled 11 points, a team-high 10 rebounds, one block, one steal, and one assist in a 71-52 win at Eastern Nazarene on Tuesday. The following day in a 73-43 victory over Wellesley, Nwogu led all players in points (16) and rebounds (eight) while tallying two steals, two assists, and one block. She closed the week with 15 points, a game-high 14 rebounds, a career and game-high six steals, three assists, and one block in a 94-23 win against Mount Holyoke on Saturday.
  • Yasmine Santos, Mitchell (Sr. | Guard | Pawtucket, RI) - Santos turned in another strong week across two GNAC games for the Mitchell women's basketball team, averaging 25 points, 15.5 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per contest. Santos also dished out 1.5 assists per contest and shot 41.5% from the floor and 71.4% from the free throw line. She began the week by recording a double-double against the University of Saint Joseph, finishing with 25 points, 18 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. Followed that performance up with another double-double, this time on the road at Colby-Sawyer, tallying 19 points, 13 rebounds, and 3 steals.
