Whiteside led the Corsairs to a 2-0 weekend at the Smith Holiday Tournament. In a 67-60 win over Dickinson University, Whiteside posted 13 points and seven rebounds on 6 for 7 from the field. In a 87-80 win over Saint Joseph (Conn.), she had a phenomenal statline with 25 points and 17 rebounds on 11 for 19 from the floor. She also had three blocked shots, three assists and a steal. Whiteside was selected to the Smith Holiday Tournament's All-Tournament Team.

Babson
Freshman • Guard • North Attleboro, MA

Reale averaged 10.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals as Babson split a pair of games in its Judy Pearson ?85 Memorial Tournament. She scored a career-high 12 points to go along with five boards and two assists in Friday?s 61-53 loss to Susquehanna and followed it up with nine points and a career-high three assists in Saturday?s 82-35 win over SUNY Oneonta. 

 

 

NEWBA First Team
  • Angie Choi, MIT (Jr. | Guard | Cypress, CA) - In a pair of victories for MIT, Angie Choi averaged 20.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists while shooting 54.2 percent from the floor, 66.7 percent from three-point range, and 58.3 percent at the charity stripe. She generated game and career highs in points (26) and rebounds (12) while also recording five assists and two steals in an 80-74 victory at Westfield State on December 11. One of four players to produce a game-high 15 points, Choi added five rebounds and two assists in the Engineers? 63-53 win over Southern Maine on December 30.
  • Jordan Grant, Westfield State (Sr. | Forward | Gray, ME) - Grant had an outstanding performance in the Puerto Rico Clasico, leading Westfield State to a pair of wins over McMurry and the Univ. of Rochester. In the two game tourney she posted a 22-point, 6-rebound, 2- steal performance against McMurry, then completed a 3-point play with 5.5 seconds left to lift the Owls to a 84-83 win over Rochester. Grant finished with 24 points, seven rebounds, five assists and five steals to lead the way for the Owls. 
  • Madison Medbury, RIC - (Jr. | Guard | Scituate, RI) Medbury helped No. 4-ranked RIC to a 3-0 record to close out the fall semester. She had nine points, 11 boards, five assists, one steal and a block in a 53-40 win over Springfield on Dec. 11. Medbury had 17 points, eight boards and three assists in a 71-61 victory over No. 8 Gustavus Adolphus at the Cruzin Classic on Dec. 20. She followed up that performance with four points, five boards and an assist in 25 minutes in a 65-52 win over Baldwin Wallace at the Cruzin Classic on Dec. 21. Medbury averaged 10.0 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 3.0 apg and 1.0 bpg in the three wins.
  • Maggie Russell, Tufts (Sr. | Forward | Morristown, NJ) - Russell helped the Jumbos post a 2-0 record on a California trip with wins over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Pomona-Pitzer. For the weekend, Russell averaged 21.0 points per game while going 14-of-23 (60.9%) from the floor, adding 22 rebounds (11.0 ppg) and nine total assists (4.5 apg). Russell posted 20 points in 23 minutes against CMS, as she was 6-of-12 with eight rebounds and six assists in the win. The senior followed that up the next day with 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting, tallying 14 boards and three assists.
  • Maya Slisz, USJ (Jr. | Guard | New Britain, CT) - Scored 12 points while hauling in three rebounds and dishing out three assists in the blowout victory over MCLA. Then was named to the All-Tournament Team of the Smith Holiday Classic after averaging 20.5 points, three assists and five rebounds across two games. Started the weekend with 14 points, four assists and three rebounds against the #8 nationally-ranked Smith Pioneers. Rounded out the weekend with 27 points on 52.6 percent shooting, seven rebounds, two assists and three steals against UMass Dartmouth.

  • Amanda DeAngelis, Suffolk (Sr. | Forward | Londonderry, NH) - Averaged 11.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per game in a 1-1 week. 
  • Kylie Grassi, Bridgewater St. (Jr. | Guard | Plymouth, MA) - Averaged 20.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, two assists and one steal in three games against higher division opponents while shooting 80.8% (21-26) at the free throw line. Tallied 25 points, three rebounds and three assists in an 88-79 setback to Division II Angelo State University; 15 points, seven rebounds, two assists and a blocked shot in a 63-48 loss to Division II University of Hawaii-Hilo; and 22 points, three rebounds, an assists and three steals in a 98-68 setback to Division I Bryant University.
  • Cortland McBarron, Williams (Jr. | Guard | Fair Haven, NJ) - McBarron averaged 15.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 0.5 steals per game in a pair of games against Millsaps on Dec. 19 and Berry on Dec. 20. McBarron finished with 17 points against Millsaps, including going 7-of-10 from the field, to go along with nine boards. Against Berry, the guard filled up the box score with 14 points, nine rebounds, and five assists.
  • Ally McMorrow, WPI (Sr. | Guard | Quincy, MA) - McMorrow was named MVP of the WPI Holiday Classic after averaging 17 points per game on 57.1% shooting from floor in a pair of WPI victories. The senior established a new career high by scoring 20 of her 22 points in the first half of the Engineers 73-43 opening round triumph over William Smith. McMorrow filled the stat sheet against the Herons with five rebounds, three steals, a pair of assists and a block while draining 10-of-14 shots from the field. She closed out the strong weekend by tossing in 12 points in a 56-41 win against RIT.
  • Flannery O'Connor, Framingham St. (Sr. | Forward | Amesbury, MA) - In a 1-1 week averaged 17 points and 13.5 rebounds per game while shooting 46% from the floor. She tallied 17 points with 11 boards in victory over Westminster and add a double double of 17 points and 16 rebounds in setback to #10 Trinity (TX) All Tournament Team at D3hoops.com Classic
