It was another monster week for Mitchell College senior Yasmine Santos(Pawtucket, R.I.), who averaged 37.5 points and 14 rebounds across two games for the Mariners. Santos added three assists an two steals in the two conference games, while shooting 55.6% from the floor and 80.6% from the free thrown line. Santos began the week with a 36 point, 15 rebounds performance against Albertus Magnus, while also dishing out five assists and shooting 59.1% overall and 90.9% from the stripe in game with the Falcons. She then turned it up a notch in conference showdown at Regis, finishing with a career-high 39 points, to go along with 13 rebounds, three steals, one assist, and one block. Shot at a 52.2% clip against the Pride and was 15-20 from the free-throw line.

Freshman • Guard • Evans, GA

Trinity Barrow shined bright for the Blue, who defeated Dean and fought to a close loss with Clark this past week. Averaging 20 points per game on 45.9% shooting from the floor, Barrow had 2.0 assist to turnover ratio while averaging 5.0 assists per game. Not content to just be great offensively, Barrow earned a staggering 14 steals (seven per game) while pulling down 12 rebounds (six per game) as a guard.

 

 

NEWBA First Team
  • Bri Frongillo, Emerson (So. | Guard | Hopedale, MA) - Bri averaged 25 points, 5 assists and 3 rebounds in a 2-0 week for the Lions. She shot 48% from the floor and 46% from the 3pt line. In a 78-64 win over Babson, Bri led all scorers with 30 points, including 16/17 from the FT line.
  • Olivia Hadla, Westfield State (Sr. | Guard | Westfield, MA) - Hadla caught fire from long range, shooting 50 percent (8-16) from behind the arc as she averaged 20.5 points per game in a pair of Owls wins. Netted 21 points with 2 rebounds , 2 assists and three steals while shooting 4-5 from downtown in a 78-64 road win over Worcester State, then added 20 points, six assists and two steals in a 102-51 win over Fitchburg.
  • Tara Laugeni, WNU - (GS | Forward | Woodbridge, CT) Started the week with a 24 point outing in a win over Suffolk University shooting 9/13 from the field, grabbing eight rebounds in the win.  Led all WNE scorers against her former Endicott team, scoring 16 points on 7/15 shooting, taking in 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 blocks.
  • Maggie Russell, Tufts (Sr. | Forward | Morristown, NJ) - In a 1-1 weekend for the Jumbos, Russell averaged 27 points and seven rebounds per game. She shot 48% from the floor and 90% (19-of-21) from the free throw line. 
  • Taylor Salato, Eastern Conn. (Jr. | Forward | East Haven, CT) - Junior forward Taylor Salato averaged 25.7 points and 20 rebounds with three double-doubles in a 2-1 week against Little East Conference competition. Salato had career-highs of 35 points and 23 rebounds in a 62-59 win at Keene State College; 12 points and 17 rebounds in a 65-39 home loss to VTSU Castleton and 30 points and 20 rebounds in a 59-52 win at Plymouth State University. Salato shot 80.1 percent (21-of-26) from the foul line and 44.4 per cent (28-of-63) from the floor on the week with six blocked shots and four assists. Against Keene, she was 15-of-23 from the floor and against Plymouth State was 9-of-18 from the floor and 12-of-14 from the stripe. Against Keene, Salato became the 13th different player in program history to score at least 30 points.

  • Izabelle Booth, RIC (Sr. | Forward | Newport, RI) - Booth shot .524 (11-for-21) and averaged 15.0 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 2.0 apg and 2.0 spg in a 2-0 week for No. 3 Rhode Island College. She notched 18 points, seven rebounds, three steals and a block as RIC crushed Western Connecticut, 74-33, on Jan. 9. Booth registered 12 points, four assists, two rebounds and a steal as RIC bested Keene State, 75-46, on Jan. 13.
  • Angela Czeremcha, Springfield (Jr. | Forward | West Springfield, MA) - Czeremcha put together an incredible week for Springfield as it produced wins over Babson and MIT to improve to 12-3 on the year. The junior forward averaged 17.5 rebounds and 17 points per game to go along with six assists, four steals, and two blocks. Her week was highlighted by a 22-rebound performance versus Babson before tacking on 13 caroms at MIT in games where she also netted 17 points in each outing.
  • Arianna Gerig, Williams (Jr. | Guard | Westport, CT) - Arianna Gerig of the Williams College women's basketball team averaged 23.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 0.5 blocks per game during a 1-1 NESCAC weekend for the Ephs. She shot a combined 16 of 37 from the field and 13 for 15 from the free-throw line. During an 80-73 win over visiting Colby Friday evening, she scored a game-high 26 points and her seven rebounds and four assists were tied for the most in the game. She went 9 for 18 from the field, 1 of 1 on 3-pointers and 7 of 9 from the foul line. Gerig scored her 1,000 career point during a 54-51 setback against No. 15-ranked Bowdoin Saturday afternoon at Chandler Gymnasium in Williamstown, Massachusetts. She finished the game with a team-leading 20 points, to go along a game-high six assists, team-best three steals and five rebounds.
  • Kylie Grassi, Bridgewater State (Jr. | Guard | Plymouth, MA) - Averaged 19.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, three assists, three steals and a blocked shot in a 2-1 week for the Bears while shooting 81.3% (13-16) at the free throw line. Scored 18 points, including the 1,000th point of her career, and added three rebounds, three assists, five steals and two blocks in a 71-33 MASCAC victory over MCLA. Poured in 27 points to go along with four rebounds, four assists, three steals and a block in a 66-55 conference win on the road over Worcester State University. Tallied 13 points, a rebounds, two assists and a steal in a 70-52 setback to WPI.
  • Jordan Ouellette, USJ (Sr. | Forward | Bristol, CT) - Averaged a double-double during a perfect 2-0 week for the Blue Jays, posting 20.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game across the week. Started off by scoring 20 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the floor, and hauling in nine rebounds in a 78-62 victory against Anna Maria. Ouellette also dished two assists in the contest. Rounded out the week with her fifth double-double of the season, posting 20 points and 13 rebounds in the victory at Rivier.
