Maddie Hasson

Bowdoin's Maddie Hasson was outstanding as the Polar Bears won a pair of games in California over break. Hasson shot 81% from the field (17-21), averaging 24.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals for the Polar Bears and, with a career-high 37-point effort against Chapman on Dec. 30, became the 18th player in school history to surpass 1,000 points.

Sam Hourihan

To tip off the new year, Hourihan posted a career-high 20 points and was a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line to go along with 12 rebounds, two steals, and three blocks. The Physical Therapy major helped the Pride run past UMass-Dartmouth 80-63 in the first round of the Hampton Inn/West Springfield Naismith Classic. In the championship game, Hourihan put together another strong performance with 14 points on 6-of-13 shooting, eight rebounds, and six blocked shots to seal the 66-63 overtime victory over Roger Williams. Hourihan was named to the All-Tournament team for her efforts for the Pride.

- Jocelyn Chaput, Univ. of New England (Sr. | Guard | Nashua, N.H.) - Chaput averaged 17.7 points on 51.3% shooting, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.7 assists in a 2-1 week for the Nor'easters. After playing in the D3hoops.com Classic, Chaput scored nine of her 15 points in the fourth quarter to elevate UNE over Middlebury, 63-61. The senior was named to the All-Tournament team.
- Erica DeCandido, Tufts (Sr. | Guard/Forward | North Wales, Pa.) - DeCandido made 60 percent of her shots (24/40) while averaging 14.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists in four Tufts victories. In the closest game of the four against Christopher Newport on December 28, she scored seven third-quarter points as Tufts turned a 41-34 halftime deficit into a 52-49 advantage after three quarters and held on for a 70-65 win. She then posted 20 points, 14 rebounds, five assists and three steals in Saturday's victory over UMass Dartmouth.
- Emily Jacques, Springfield College (Sr. | Guard | Auburn, Maine) - Jacques' efforts over the weekend allowed Springfield to capture the title at the Hampton Inn/West Springfield Naismith Classic hosted by Springfield College. In the first round 80-63 win over UMass-Dartmouth, the senior guard put together an impressive double-double with 22 points, shooting 40.9%, with 10 rebounds (five offensive), and a pair of steals. In the championship, Jacques fueled Springfield to a 66-63 overtime win over Roger Williams with 18 points, four rebounds, two assists, four steals, and a rejection. In the overtime period, Jacques was a perfect 3-of-3 from the field, giving Springfield the eventual championship victory.
- Karli Opalka, Roger Williams (So. | Forward | Southbury, Conn.) - Averaging 23.5 points on 63% from the field with 14 rebounds, Opalka was named All-Tournament team for her efforts in getting RWU to the championship game of the Hampton Inn/West Springfield Naismith Classic. In their win over St. Joseph's, Opalka went for 20 points and 11 rebounds, then in the title game, the sophomore gave a sensational effort with 27 points and 17 rebounds.
- Willcia McBorrough, Rhode Island College (So. | Center | Providence, R.I.) - McBorrough's 14.0 points, 13.0 rebounds, shooting 80% from the field, 1.5 steals, and 2.5 blocks allowed Rhode Island College to pick up a pair of wins over Johnson and Wales (RI) and Castleton. Against JWU, the sophomore center had 17 points and 12 rebounds, then, 11 points and 14 rebounds against Castleton.
