NEWBA Announces Weekly Awards for January 8

Hasson led top-ranked Bowdoin to a pair of NESCAC road victories last week. She averaged 23.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game while shooting an impressive 76 percent (19-of-25) from the field. Hasson posted a double-double with 25 points, ten boards and two steals on Friday as the Polar Bears rolled to a 65-49 win over Bates. She followed that up with 21 points, seven rebounds and three steals on Saturday in an 82-63 victory at No. 4 Tufts.

McBorrough made 6-of-7 field goal attempts and all three of her free throws en route to a 15-point, nine-rebound performance on Saturday as Rhode Island College opened the 2019 portion of its schedule with a 57-38 win at Plymouth State.

  • Kyra Fleharty, Eastern Nazarene (Junior | Forward | Lewiston, Mont.) - Fleharty turned in a strong all-around effort with 23 points, eight rebounds, six blocks and three steals in Eastern Nazarene's only game last week, a 70-57 win over Simmons on Friday. She shot 9-of-16 from the field and 4-of-7 from the free throw line. 
  • Mary Kate O'Day, Framingham State (Junior | Guard | Berlin, Mass.) - O'Day scored a game-high 34 points to go with nine rebounds, two assists and one steal as Framingham State cruised past Fitchburg State 76-41 on Saturday. She connected on 14-of-26 field goal attempts while sinking 4-of-6 at the charity stripe. 
  • Payton Ouimette, Babson (Senior | Forward | Medfield, Mass.) - Ouimette recorded back-to-back double-doubles and averaged 20.0 points, 16.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists while shooting 50 percent from the field in a pair of wins for Babson. She finished with 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting to go along with 10 boards and two steals in an 85-77 victory over UMass Dartmouth in the Judy Pearson '85 Memorial Tournament championship game on Monday. Ouimette then scored 20 points, grabbed a career-high 22 rebounds and dished out five assists in Saturday's 75-67 triumph at Clark. 
  • Alexis Quenneville, Castleton (Junior | Guard | Orwell, Vt.) - Quenneville had a career day on Saturday afternoon in a win against LEC foe Western Connecticut, scoring a career-high 27 points while pulling in six rebounds in a 67-60 win for Castleton. The junior guard netted 9-of-18 shots from the floor, including a 6-for-10 mark from long range.
  • Mya Villard, Eastern Connecticut (Junior | Forward | Cromwell, Conn.) - Villard produced a double-double with 20 points, 12 rebounds (both game-highs), two assists and one steal in Eastern Connecticut's 75-65 triumph over Johnson & Wales on Wednesday.
