Junior forward Payton Ouimette of Babson College is the Presto Sports NEWBA Player of the Week for games played from December 11- January 1. Ouimette produced three double-doubles and averaged 17.5 points and 15.3 rebounds per game while shooting 50 percent from the field in four games over the holidays for Babson. She finished with 18 points and a career-high 21 rebounds in a December 20th win over Roanoke, and followed that up with a season-high 22 points on 10-of-13 shooting and nine boards against Bates on December 21. Over the weekend, Ouimette put up 11 points and 14 rebounds against Colby and 19 points and 17 rebounds in a win over MCLA to earn All-Tournament honors at the Naismith Classic.

Southern Maine
Freshman • Guard • Gorham, Maine

Freshman guard Kristen Curley of Southern Maine earns her second straight NEWBA Rookie of the Week honor after averaging 25.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.5 steals and 2.0 blocked shots per game in a 2-0 stretch for the Huskies. In a 69-53 road win at Thomas on December 29, Curley shot 7-for-14 from the floor on her way to 23 points, while adding eight rebounds, three assists and a steal. In a 67-64 overtime win against Regis (Mass.) the next day, Curley was instrumental in USM's come-from-behind win as the Huskies extended their winning streak to five games. She finished with a game-high 27 points (on 11-for-20 shooting) to go with five rebounds, an assist, four steals, and four blocked shots.

  • Ama Biney, WPI (Senior, Guard, Worcester, Mass.) - Biney averaged 14.8 points, 10 rebounds, 3.25 assists and 3.25 steals over four games while registering a trio of double-doubles. The senior scored 12 points and swiped the ball seven times in a win over Wells on December 20. She then scored 17 points and notched a career-high 14 rebounds against SUNY New Paltz on December 30 after logging 17 points and 10 boards versus Spalding nine days earlier. Biney ended the year with 13 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and a steal against Ramapo on Sunday. 
  • Alayne Felix, Maine Maritime (Junior, Forward, Mahopac, N.Y.) - Felix helped lead the Mariners to a 1-1 week at the Hat City Tournament. The junior shot 48.4 percent from the floor and averaged 19.8 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. In Maine Maritime's 56-55 win over Trinity, she tallied a game-high 21 points, and added eight rebounds, five blocks, a steal and an assist. Against the Colonials of Western Connecticut, Felix contributed a double-double of 18 points, 11 rebounds and also added five rebounds, two steals and a block. 
  • Amanni Fernandez, Williams (Senior, Guard, Queens, N.Y.) - Fernandez posted strong all-around numbers in a 1-1 week for Williams, averaging 15.5 points, 5.5 steals, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game. Against nationally ranked DePauw on December 20, she recorded 17 points, five boards, three steals and two assists. Fernandez also turned in a 14-point, eight-steal, six-assist, four-rebound effort in a 70-49 win over Chatham on December 21. 
  • Raegan Mulherin, Framingham State (Senior, Guard, Baldwinville, Mass.) - Mulherin averaged 21.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.3 steals, and 2.3 assists per game over a 2-2 stretch for the Rams. In an 83-81 loss to Regis on December 14, she poured in a career-high 37 points on 50 percent shooting. Mulherin followed that up with 24 points on 50 percent shooting from both the field (7-of-14) and beyond the arc (3-of-6) and a perfect 7-for-7 effort from the free throw line in a 73-64 win over York (PA) on December 28, surpassing the 1,000 point milestone in the process. She added 19 points including the buzzer beater in overtime to beat Western New England to cap the Rams trip to Florida at 2-0.
  • Brittany Stone, Regis (Senior, Forward, West Bridgewater, Mass.) - Stone guided Regis to a 2-1 record over a three-game period with averages of 25.0 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game. She recorded 18 points, seven rebounds and two blocks in a win over Anna Maria on December 11, before posting consecutive double-doubles against Framingham State (33 points, 18 boards, five assists, four blocks) and Southern Maine (24 points, 12 rebounds, one block) on December 14 and December 30, respectively. Stone shot 62 percent from the field overall and equaled her season-high with the 33-point performance.
