Senior guard Ama Biney of Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) is the Presto Sports NEWBA Player of the Week for games played from January 8-14. Biney led WPI to a 2-1 week, averaging 21 points, nine rebounds, 4.7 assists and 4.3 steals per game. The senior opened the week with 20 points, six rebounds, five assists, five steals and two blocks in a win over Clark on Tuesday. She followed that up with 27 points, ten boards, five steals and four assists in a victory over Coast Guard on Thursday, before posting her second consecutive double-double with 16 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and three steals in Saturday's loss at MIT. Biney shot 55.6 percent (25-of-45) from the field overall.

Freshman forward Mikayla Pucci of Wheaton College earns NEWBA Rookie of the Week honors after averaging 16.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per game in a 1-2 week for the Lyons. Pucci's top performance came in Monday's five-point loss at Coast Guard, when she scored 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds. In a loss to MIT on Thursday, the freshman totaled 12 points and seven boards, before finishing with 14 points and seven rebounds against Mount Holyoke on Saturday. Pucci shot 46.3 percent (19-of-41) from the field and 92.3 percent (12-of-13) from the free throw line for the week.

  • Alayne Felix, Maine Maritime (Junior • Forward • Mahopac, N.Y.) - Felix helped the Mariners to a 2-1 week, averaging 20 points, 8.7 rebounds, four assists, 2.3 steals and one block per game, while shooting 44.7 percent from the floor. In the Mariners' 67-59 win over NESCAC opponent Colby College, Felix scored a career-high 31 points, while pulling down seven rebounds and dishing out five assists to go with two steals and one block. Felix followed that up on Friday with her sixth double-double of the season against New England College as the junior tallied 16 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, three steals and a block in the 63-55 victory. In the Mariners' 52-50 loss to Colby-Sawyer College on Saturday, she recorded 13 points, seven rebounds, two steals, an assist and a block. 
  • Kennedy Guest-Pritchett, Smith (Junior • Forward • Fairburn, Ga.) - In a 2-0 week for Smith, Guest-Pritchett averaged 17.5 points and 14.0 rebounds per game while shooting 65.4 percent (17-of-26) from the field. Against Babson, she poured in a career-high 27 points to go along with 19 rebounds and set a new Smith record with 13 made field goals. The Pioneers cruised to a 68-48 win over Springfield on January 11, when Guest-Pritchett totaled eight points on 4-of-6 shooing and added nine boards.
  • Dorothy O'Neill, Western New England (Senior • Guard • Staten Island, N.Y.) -  O'Neill led Western New England to a 2-1 record last week against three of the top five teams in the CCC standings. She averaged 23.3 points per game on 53.5 percent shooting from the field, 58.3 percent from beyond the arc, and 83.3 percent from the free throw line. The senior captain also contributed 4.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game for the Golden Bears. O’Neill opened her week with a career-high 33 points, three rebounds and one assist in a close loss at Endicott on Tuesday. She followed that up with 14 points, four boards, and four assists in a 51-40 victory over Curry on Thursday. O'Neill capped her week with 23 points, including 14 in the third quarter, to go with a career-high matching seven rebounds, two assists and one steal as Western New England handed CCC-leading UNE its first conference loss on Saturday in Biddeford.
  • Tianna Sugars, Colby-Sawyer (Sophomore • Forward • Oxford, Maine) - Sugars averaged 14.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game while shooting 60.9% from the field in a 3-0 week for Colby-Sawyer. The sophomore began the week with her fifth double-double of the season. She posted 14 points on 7-of-12 shooting and grabbed 15 rebounds in a 65-55 win over Bates. Sugars then turned in a pair of clutch performances in a pair of NAC wins in Maine. She scored 15 points and collected nine rebounds in a 54-53 win at Husson on Friday. Sugars made 9-of-12 free throws, including two in the final seconds that put the Chargers in front for the victory. She ended the week with 13 points and three rebounds in a 52-50 win at Maine Maritime. 
  • Dolly Yuan, MIT (Junior • Guard • San Jose, Calif.) - In a 2-1 week for MIT, Yuan averaged 15.3 points on 43.6 percent shooting from the floor and 36.4 percent from three-point range while dishing out 3.0 assists and grabbing 3.0 rebounds per game. In a 40-minute effort last Tuesday, she paced the Engineers with 16 points, including a layup that brought MIT within 52-50 with 1:47 left to play, to go along with three assists in a 61-52 loss to Springfield. Yuan then tallied 10 points, four rebounds, four assists, and a steal while playing 33 minutes in a 56-30 victory at Wheaton on Thursday. She followed that up with a game-high 20 points in addition to five rebounds, three steals, two assists, and a block in 39 minutes of a 66-55 overtime win against WPI on Saturday. Yuan generated eight points during MIT's fourth-quarter comeback, including hitting a three-pointer that put the Engineers in front, 52-50, with 35 seconds remaining in regulation. She then drained a pair of free throws two minutes into overtime to create a 57-52 lead en route to a 66-55 victory.
