Worcester Polytechnic Institute junior guard Ama Biney is this week's NEWBA Player of the Week after averaging 21 points, six rebounds and 2.7 steals per game in a 3-0 week for the Engineers. She scored a career-high 28 points against RPI on Saturday, and followed that up with 16 points on Sunday versus Johnson & Wales en route to WPI Thanksgiving Classic MVP honors. Earlier in the week, Biney added 19 points, eight rebounds, two assists and two steals in just 19 minutes against Nichols.

Connecticut College freshman guard Sami Ashton earns NEWBA Rookie of the Week honors after averaging 14 points, five rebounds and 1.5 assists in two starts in the back court for the Camels last week. Ashton netted 22 points with six rebounds and three assists in her first home start against Babson College on Sunday. She opened her week with six points and four boards in a 70-65 victory at Western Connecticut State University on Tuesday.

  • Mairead Hynes, Connecticut College (Jr., F, Mahopac, N.Y.) -  Hynes posted a pair of double-doubles, averaging 18 points and 11 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Camels (3-1) last week. She erupted with 23 points and 12 rebounds in a 70-65 victory at Western Connecticut State University on Tuesday, before adding 13 points and 10 boards in a 79-70 loss to Babson College on Sunday.
  • Alicia Kutil, UMass Dartmouth (Jr., F, Franklin, Mass.) - Kutil tallied a career-high 29 points on 61 percent shooting from the field in the Corsairs' 64-61 win over Roger Williams on Tuesday. She also led the Corsairs with nine rebounds, sank all seven of her free throw attempts and added four blocks. 
  • Brenna LeGacy, Babson (Jr., F, Attleboro, Mass.) - LeGacy scored a career-high 23 points on 9-of-11 shooting to go along with eight rebounds and two assists as Babson defeated Connecticut College, 79-70, for a key regional win on Sunday. She made her first seven shots from the floor and scored 16 points in the first half as the Beavers opened up a 16-point lead at the break.  
  • Alexandra Marques, Elms (Sr., F, Newington, Conn.) - In a 64-48 win over Mount Holyoke, Marques delivered a career-day, logging her first 20-20 performance with a career-high 20 points with a career-high 22 rebounds to power the Blazers to victory. Marques added two assists, two steals and two blocks in the win.
  • Quinn O'Connell, Framingham State (Jr., G, Sterling, Mass.) - O'Connell came off the bench to score 23 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field and 6-of-9 from beyond the arc in a 79-32 win over Lasell on Tuesday.
