Tufts University junior forward Michela North is the NEWBA/Prestosports Player of the Week for January 11.  North had a double-double in each game as Tufts went 3-0 during the week including opening the NESCAC season with wins at Bowdoin and Colby. She started the week with 17 rebounds to go with 13 points in a key non-league win over Babson. She had 9 points and 9 rebounds in the first half at Bowdoin as the Jumbos took a lead they would ultimately would not relinquish. She then led Tufts as they pulled away from Colby in the second half with 12 points and 11 rebounds in the third and fourth quarters combined, including 8 and 6 in the fourth.

Connecticut College rookie guard Kylie Caouette averaged 15 points, four steals and two rebounds in a perfect 3-0 week for the Camels. Caouette opened the week with a 19 point outburst against Mitchell Monday night. Caouette and Liz Malman netted a game-high 14 points each in a victory at Hamilton Friday. She closed out the week with 12 points and two rebounds in a win at Middlebury. For the week, Caouette shot 53% from the field (16-for-30), 50% from three-point distance (9-for-18) and was 4-for-5 at the foul line (80%). The Camels have stormed out to a 12-1 start this season.

  • Alycia Rackliffe, Framingham State University (Jr., G, Feeding Hills, Mass.) - Rackliffe averaged a double-double with 10.5 points and 15 rebounds adding eight blocks in a 2-0 week for the Rams. Rackliffe registered a double-double with 12 points and 14 boards in a win at Salem State, then addedd nine points with 18 rebounds and eight blocked shots in a 59-42 win at Bridgewater State.
  • Chelsea Vujs, Western New England University (Sr., F, Berlin, Conn.) - Vujs averaged just under a double-double (14.3 PPG, 9.3 RPG) as Western New England went 2-1 in three games last week, while also contributing 4.3 steals and 2.7 assists per game. The senior recorded her 32nd and 33rd career double-doubles against Wentworth and Endicott, respectively, finishing with 21 points, 11 rebounds and five steals in a 69-54 win over the Leopards on Tuesday before recording 11 points, a game-high 14 rebounds, four assists and three steals in a close loss to the Gulls on Saturday. 
  • Bridget Quilty, Roger Williams University (Jr., C, Duxbury, Mass.) - Quilty led the Hawks to a 3-0 week by averaging 13.7 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 3.0 blocks.  Against Nichols College, she had 14 points, 13 rebounds, and and four blocks, and against Endicott, she pulled down 11 more boards with three blocks.  She capped the week with 20 points and two blocks in a victory over Wentworth.
  • Emily Dobson, Western Connecticut State University (Jr., G, Westerly, R.I.) - Dobson kept the Colonials perfect last week, scoring 20 points in a win over New Rochelle, then adding 16 points and 11 rebounds in a conference win over UMass Dartmouth.
  • Jill Valley, Westfield State University (Jr., G, Orange, Mass.) - Valley averaged 18 ppg in a 2-0 week for the Owls. She scored 18 points on 8-11 shooting and grabbed seven steals and dished out four assists as Westfield rolled to a 106-30 MASCAC win over Fitchburg State, setting a school record for margin of victory. Valley added another 18 in a 90-69 win over MCLA as the Owls improved to 9-4, 2-0 MASCAC. She shot 63.6 pct from the floor, 60 percent from three-point land, and 83.3 pct from the line for the week.
