Sara Binkhorst of Bowdoin College is the NEWBA/Prestosports Player of the Week for January 12. Binkhorst was outstanding in four impressive wins for the Polar Bears to open 2015. In the four victories, the senior guard has averaged 21.2 points and 3.0 assists while connecting on 52.6% from three-point range (10-19) and 95.8% from the free throw line (23-24). Thanks in great part to Binkhorst, the Polar Bears have won their last ten outings.

MacDonald scored in double figures in every game (12.0 points and 7.0 rebounds with 55% shooting) during a 3-0 week for UNE. The 5-6 guard logged 29 minutes in her first significant action at Wentworth, registering a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds, to go with three assists. She followed with a high of 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting against Salve Regina, while adding seven rebounds, and ended with another 11-point outing at Nichols.

  • Megan Pelletier, University of Southern Maine (Jr., F, Winslow, Maine) - Pelletier averaged 32.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game for the Huskies in a pair of games. She shot an outstanding 57.9 percent from the field and added 3.0 blocks per game. She set a career-high with 33 points on 12-for-19 shooting from the field against Husson and was 9-for-10 from the charity stripe. Against UMass Dartmouth, Pelletier was 10-for-19 from the field and 12-for-15 from the free throw line for 32 points while grabbing 11 rebounds. 
  • Megan Ronaghan, UMass Dartmouth (So., G, N. Attleboro, Mass.) - Ronaghan averaged 20.7 points and seven rebounds per game to help UMass Dartmouth post a 2-1 record this past week, including a 2-0 mark against Little East opponents. The sophomore from shot 57.5 percent from the field and 80 percent from the foul line. She nearly posted a double-double with 16 points and eight boards at No. 10 Williams College. Ronaghan poured in 24 points, on 11-for-16 from the field, to power the Corsairs past Western Connecticut. On Saturday, she scored 22 points and seven rebounds to lift UMass Dartmouth to its first win at Southern Maine. 
  • Sabrina Drammis, MIT (Jr., G, Hilton Head, S.C.) - Drammis compiled 39 points, 26 rebounds, nine assists, and three steals last week for MIT. In a 65-61 loss to Wheaton last Wednesday, she nearly registered a triple-double as she paced the Engineers with 25 points and 10 rebounds to go along with a game-high seven assists. Drammis then posted her 10th double-double of the season as she compiled 14 points, a game-high 16 rebounds, two assists, and two steals in a 70-62 victory over Smith.
  • Jen Ashton, Westfield State University (Sr., G, Beverly, Mass.) - Ashton powered the Owls to a 3-0 week including two wins in the MASCAC. Scored 22 points and dished out a school record tying 13 assists, and grabbed eight rebounds in the MASCAC opening win over Framingham State, and followed that up with a 13 point, seven assist performance against Bridgewater State. Earlier in the week she helped Westfield snap a 21-game losing streak against Eastern Connecticut with 10 points, eight assists, and six rebounds. 
  • Amber Legare, Mount Holyoke College (Sr., F, Chicopee, Mass.) - Legare helped the Lyons to a 2-0 week, averaging 27.5 points and 16.0 rebounds. She added three assists and three blocks while averaging 36.5 minutes per contest. In a 71-61 conference win over Clark, Legare scored a career-high 31 points, chipping in 13 rebounds with an assist and two blocks. She then added 24 points with 19 rebounds, two assists and a block in a 70-54 victory against Saint Joseph (CT).
