Shannon Brady of Bowdoin College is the NEWBA/Prestosports Player of the Week for February 2.  Brady was outstanding in a pair of key NESCAC wins last weekend for the Polar Bears. In a nationally-ranked battle on Saturday against Amherst she scored a game-high 21 points, connecting on 10-17 shots, grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked a pair of shots in a nine-point win. Against Trinity on Sunday she again scored a game-high, this time totaling 18 points with six boards and a pair of blocks. For the week she averaged 19.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and connected on 51.4% of her shots. 

Nina Davenport
Bates College
Freshman • Forward • Freeport, Maine

Bates first-year forward Nina Davenport exploded for a career-high 29 points in Friday's loss at Wesleyan, adding nine rebounds and six steals. She entered the game averaging 7.4 points per game. On Saturday at Connecticut College, Davenport scored 25 points with five rebounds and two steals, for a week's average of 27.0 points on 43.4% shooting from the field, 7.0 rebounds and 4.0 steals per game.

  • Kelsey Garrity,  UMass Dartmouth (Sr., G, Somerville, Mass.) - Garrity kept the Corsairs at the top of the Little East Conference by averaging 21 points, six rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.5 steals.  The senior started the week with 26 points and nine boards in a conference win over Rhode Island College, then added 16 points as the Corsairs beat Western Connecticut State.
  • Denisha Parks, Elms College (Sr., F, Fall River, Mass.) - In a pair of victories for the Blazers, Parks averaged a double-double of 26 points, shooting 48.8% from the floor, with 11.5 rebounds. During a road win at Newbury, Parks netted 25 points,with 11 rebounds. In a 95-48 dismantling of Mitchell College, Parks poured in 27 points, shooting 57% from the field, with 12 rebounds, four steals and two assists in 32 minutes of action. For the season, Parks leads the NECC in scoring with 22 points per game, while ranking fourth in rebounding (9.5) and field goal percentage (45.1).
  • Amanda Hawkesworth, Regis College  (MA) (So., F, Abington, Mass.) - Hawkesworth averaged a double-double in a pair of NECC wins this week for the Pride. Hawkesworth scored 12 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to go with a pair of steals in a 59-51 win over Mitchell College. She followed that up with a historic day in a 90-67 win over Daniel Webster, setting a new program record for points in a game (36) and grabbed 24 rebounds, the third highest total in program history, with a pair of blocks. For the week, she averaged 24 points, 18.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. 
  • Giovanna Pickering, Babson College (So., G, Hull, Mass.) - Pickering had a tremendous week averaging 16.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.0 steals while shooting 56.5 percent as the Beavers won a pair of league games to push their winning streak to eight. She scored 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting to go along with five boards and three assists in Babson's 74-58 victory over MIT on Thursday. Pickering then finished with 17 points, six rebounds, five assists and five steals in Saturday's 87-46 triumph over Clark. 
  • Forbasaw Nkamebo, Westfield State College (Jr., C, Amherst, Mass.) - Nkamebo tallied 16 points and 19 rebounds (three shy of the school record) in a win over Fitchburg State, and came back with 14 points and eight rebounds against Framingham to help the Owls stay unbeaten in conference play. For the week, she shot 61 percent from the floor and 73 percent from the line.
