Gabby Felix is the NEWBA/Prestosports Player of the Week for January 13.  Felix led her team to a 3-0 week with three outstanding performances.  In a non-conference matchup against Suffolk, Felix posted 24 points on 7-for-12 shooting and 10-for-12 from the free throw line, adding 10 rebounds, three steals, and a block.  Felix added 13 points and nine boards in a MASCAC win over Framingham State, then saved her best for last, with a 27 point, 20 rebound performance as the Owls notched a win over Bridgewater State.  Both the points and rebounds represented career highs.

Williams helped the Pequots to a perfect week by averaging 12 points, nine rebounds, and 2.7 blocks.  In a league win over Daniel Webster College, Williams netted 15 points, 15 rebounds, and five blocks.  She also helped Mitchell to a win over Bay Path with 21 points, making 15 of 17 free throws, and adding seven boards, three assists, and two blocks.

  • Rosa Drummond, Smith College (Jr., F/C, Rye, N.H.) -  Drummond led Smith to a perfect 3-0 week, averaging 17 points, 11 rebounds, and 2.7 steals. After an 18 point, 14 rebound performance in a road win over MIT, she added 22 points, eight boards, and four steals in a victory over Springfield. She capped the week by recording her third double-double in five games with 12 points, 11 rebounds, along with three steals and a block against Coast Guard.
  • Lauren Hayden, University of New England (So., G, Chantilly, Va.) - Hayden shot 60% (12 for 20) from the floor over three games on the way to averaging 13.0 points, while adding 8.7 rebounds, 6.3 steals, and 3.7 assists (against 1.7 turnovers). Elevated her season FT percentage from 41% to 52% by going 14-of-21 at the line, including all four of her attempts in overtime at Salve Regina. Had a season-high 16 points against Wentworth. Nearly registered a triple-double against Nichols, with a stat line showing 9 points, 12 rebounds, 10 steals, and five assists. The rebounds were a career-high, as were the steals, and the steals were also good for the UNE single-game record in the category (previously set in 2006-07). At halftime against the Bison, she had 9, 9, and 9.
  • Taylor McBride, Eastern Connecticut State University (Jr., G, Willimantic, Conn.) - McBride totaled 19 assists, shot 70 percent from the floor and 87.5 percent from the foul line with only two turnovers in 53 minutes as the Warriors extended their winning streak to six games during the week of Jan. 6-12 with home wins over the University of Saint Joseph (CT) and Massachusetts Boston. In the 20-point win over UMass Boston, McBride reached double figures in points for the first time this year with a career-high 16 and also handed out a career-high ten assists. She was 5-of-7 from the floor and 6-of-6 from the foul line in a season-high 35 minutes. In a 45-point win over Saint Joseph, McBride did not commit a turnover in 18 minutes and collected a career-high nine assists which she topped against UMass Boston. 
  • Hannah Brickley, Trinity College (CT) (Sr., F, Melrose, Mass.) - Brickley led the Bantams to a 3-0 week, scoring 12 points with seven boards in a non-conference win over St. Joseph (CT).  She posted a double-double with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and three steals as Trinity upset No. 10 Williams College, then capped the week with another double-double, a 14 point, 14 rebound showing against NESCAC foe Hamilton.
  • Sara Binkhorst, Bowdoin College (Jr., G, West Hartford, Conn.) - Bowdoin guard Sara Binkhorst scored in double figures in three Polar Bear wins last week. In a Tuesday victory against Emmanuel, the junior captain scored a game-high 16 points. She then led the Polar Bears to a pair of NESCAC wins over the weekend, scoring 11 points with five assists in a two-point win over Conn before scoring a game-high 15 points in a victory over Wesleyan. For the week, Binkhorst connected on 9-13 (.692) from three-point range.
