- Kate Karraker, Mount Holyoke College (Jr., G,
Morgantown, WVa.) - Karraker boasted a
team-high 19.0 points avg., including a 50.0% (10-for-20) from
3-point range last week. She nailed five three-pointers in a 43-38
win at WPI - MHC's first victory in six years - and went on to pour
in another five shots from beyond the arc in a 76-56 loss to
Wheaton. Additionally, Karraker, who is second in the NEWMAC in
scoring & first in three-pointers made per game, was a perfect
4-for-4 from free-throw range.
- Morgan Cahill, Saint Joseph's (ME) (So., C,
Yarmouth, Maine) - Cahill is averaging
17.5 points, 7.2 rebounds and 4.0 blocks per game through four
contests for the 3-1 Monks. She has led the team in scoring in
three of the four tilts and registered her first double-double of
the year with 20 points and 12 boards in a victory over Maine
Maritime Academy on Saturday.
- Aliah Curry, Norwich University (Jr., G, Windsor,
Mass.) - Curry has averaged 23.0 points
per game since the start of the 2013-14 season. She scored a
season-best 36 points in the Cadets' 63-59 win against New Jersey
City in the consolation game of the Salem State Tip-Off Tournament.
She also scored 24 points as the Cadets downed Mount Saint Mary
88-72, and had two 21-point performances against Bowdoin and
Nichols. On the season, Curry is shooting 39.3 percent from the
floor and 43.3 percent from three-point rang. She has hit 32-36
free throws and has totaled 18 rebounds, 14 assists, 11 steals, and
a block. She was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference
Player of the Week to open the season.
- Kelly Coleman, University of New England (Jr., F,
Portland, Conn.) - Scored a career-high 24
points in a come-from-behind win over Colby, including 10 in a 17-0
UNE run over 4:08 down the stretch in the 2nd half to erase an
8-point deficit. The night before, she tallied all 16 of her points
in the 2nd half of a win against Southern Maine - a back-and-forth
game in which UNE trailed by five with 4:06 left. Coleman drained
her only three-pointer on the next trip down, and tallied five of
UNE's next seven points to regain the lead for good. During the
opening weekend, she scored 18 of her 19 in the 2nd half against
RIC to help UNE pull away to the Ramada Roundball Invitational
title, and was named to the all-tournament team. Recorded a
double-double in a easy win over Daniel Webster, going for 16
points and 14 rebounds.
- Kylie Shoemaker, Wheaton College (MA) (So., F,
Fayetteville, N.Y.) - Homich averaged 17.0
points, 8.5 assists and 5.0 steals in a 2-0 week for the Bears
while shooting 50% (7-14) from three-point range and a perfect
9-for-9 at the free throw line. Notched 15 points and a career-high
13 assists (two off the school record) to go along with five steals
in the Bears' 90-61 MASCAC win over MCLA, then tallied 19 points,
four rebounds, four assists and five steals in a 104-81 conference
victory over Fitchburg State.
