- Jenna Williamson, Bridgewater State University (Jr., G,
Ludlow, Mass.) - The MASCAC Tournament MVP
Averaged 25.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals as
she led the Bears to their third straight conference tournament
title. Also shot 66.7% (14-21) from the field, 57.1% (8-14) from
behind the arc and 88.2% (15-17) at the free throw line. Williamson
tallied 17 points, six boards, three assists and a pair of steals
in the Bears 77-65 semifinal round win over Framingham State, and
notched 34 points (one shy of the Bears' single game record) to go
along with four rebounds and a pair of steals as the Bears erased a
14-point second half deficit to down Westfield State in the title
game, 85-72. The junior keyed a 15-0 second half run with a pair of
three-pointers and converted 9 of 10 free throws in the final 73
seconds to secure the win.
- Haley Jordan, University of Southern Maine (Sr., G,
Falmouth, Maine) - Jordan was named the
Tournament's co-Most Outstanding Player helping the University of
Southern Maine to its 20th Little East Conference championship.
Over three games, Jordan averaged 17.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.7
apt and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 50.0 percent from the
field. In USM's quarterfinal win over PLymouth St (63-31), she led
USM in scoring with 14 points. Against Rhode Island College in the
semifinal game, Jordan had a team-high 21 points on 7-for-11
shooting. In the championship game, Jordan had 17
points.
- Taylor DeSanty, Colby-Sawyer College (Sr., G, North
Adams, Mass.) - DeSanty led Colby-Sawyer
to its first NAC title with three wins last week. She averaged 16
points and shot 41.5%. She saved her best for last as she was 9-16
from the floor and 5-8 from beyond the arc for a game-high 27
points in the Chargers' 65-59 win over Castleton in the
championship game. For her efforts throughout the week, she was
named NAC Tournament MVP.
- Vanessa Bosques, Daniel Webster College (Gr., G,
Windham, Conn.) - Bosques led the Eagles to the
semifinals of the New England Collegiate Conference tournament last
week, averaging 26 points and six rebounds in two games. She
shot 50% from three point range and hit all 13 of her free throws,
playing all but one minute in the two games.
- Beth Suggs, University of New England (Sr., F, Bath,
Maine) - Suggs scored in double figures during
all three games of UNE's run to the CCC title, and averaged a
double-double (11.3 points, 10.3 rebounds) on the week. Her one
double-double (11 points, 14 rebounds) came in the final against
Salve Regina, a game in which she also connected on all but one of
her eight free throw attempts. Against Wentworth in the
quarterfinal, she not only established the UNE single-season record
for rebounds, but moved into third on the program's all-time list.
With a current win streak (19) of seven more than the previous
record, UNE holds a 24-4 mark entering the NCAA
tournament.
