Collins Michaela Cosby of Bridgewater State University has earned the NEWBA/Prestosports Player of the Week honors after leading the Bears to a 3-0 week. Cosby averaged 17.3 points, 8.0 This Week's rebounds, 4.7 assists and 2.3 steals to lead BSU to the championship of the Hampton Inn/Naismith Classic where she was named the tournament MVP. She tallied 21 points, seven rebounds (five offensive), three assists and two steals in a 56-53 semifinal win over Eastern Connecticut State, and notched 15 points, seven boards, four assists, a block and a steal in the Bears' 75-51 championship game victory over host Springfield. She then capped off the week with 16 points, ten rebounds (four offensive), seven assists and four steals in a 90-47 MASCAC opening triumph at Fitchburg.

Olivia Murphy of UMass-Boston is this week's NEWBA/Prestosports Rookie of the Week after some outstanding play over the holiday season for the Beacons.  Murphy was named the MVP of the Key Largo Classic after leading the Beacons to the tournament championship.  Muephy averaged 16.0 points and 11.5 rebounds per game to lead UMB to a 3-1 record overall.  Against Westfield State, Murphy recorded five points and had a combined 13 rebounds to help UMB to their first win over the Owls after dropping the previous eight contests. In the double overtime win over Maine Maritime the freshman recorded a career-best double-double of 20 points and 15 rebounds to go along with three assists, four steals, and one blocked shot, and in the championship game, she shot 81.8% from the floor to end the night with 21 points. She also collected 10 rebounds and came up with two steals and two blocks ... Against Rhode Island College, toalled 18 points with eight rebounds.

Honor Roll
  • Gabby Felix, Westfield State University (So., C, Springfield, Mass.) - In six games, Felix averaged 15.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game.  The sophomore hit double-figures in every game, including 19 points against Johnson and Wales.  She was named to the All-Tournament team of the WPI Classic after averaging 17.5 points per game over the two games.
  • Lucy Tremblay, MCLA (Sr., G, East Greenbush, N.Y.) - Tremblay went over 20 points twice while leading the Blazers to three wins in four games.  MCLA's top scorer hit four threes in a game three different times, including 24 points with nine boards, five assists, and four steals on 10-for-17 shooting against Lycoming and 23 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and four steals against Susquehanna.  Tremblay was named MVP of the Lycoming Hoops for Hounds tournament.
  • Kirsten Morrison, UMass-Boston (So., C, N. Reading, Mass.) - Morrison helped the Beacons to a 3-1 week by averaging 15.2 points and 14.0 rebounds in four games.  She had three double-doubles in that span, with a 20 point, 11 rebound performance against Westfield State and a 13 point, 24 rebound effort against Maine Maritime.  She also posted 17 points and 12 boards against Rhode Island College.
  • Donna Lawson, Lyndon State College (Sr., F, Irasburg, Vt.) - Lawson had 15 points, nine rebounds, two assists, one steal and four blocks in a 61-50 win over Plymouth State before getting 13 points, seven rebounds, four steals, two assists and two blocks in a 58-44 loss to St. Joseph's (ME). Over the weekend Lawson had 26 points, 12 rebounds, three blocks, two steals and one assist in a 64-56 victory over Thomas and capped the week with 22 points, eight rebounds, three blocked shots and two steals in a 65-57 loss to Maine-Farmington.  
  • Erika Bornemann, UMass-Dartmouth (Jr., F, Canton, Mass.) - Bornemann had two double-doubles in three games, netting 11 points and 11 boards against Johnson & Wales, and 13 points and 10 rebounds against Eastern Nazarene.  She ended the week with a 21 point, nine rebound, two block effort against Western Connecticut State while shooting 55% from the field for the week.

  • Theresa Logan of WPI was named to the All-Tournament team of the WPI Holiday Classic.
  • Keene State's Siobhan Carnell was a member of the KSC Holiday Classic All-Tournament Team.
  • Fitchburg State's Amy Fahey became the ninth player in school history to go over 1,000 career points, netting 22 in a win over Anne Maria.
