NEWBA Awards Handed Out for December 6

Babson College sophomore center Sarah Collins has earned the NEWBA/PrestoSports Player of the Week award for the week of November 29 - December 5. Collins averaged a double-double on 24.0 points and 13.0 rebounds per game in a perfect 3-0 week for the Beavers. She racked up 4.7 blocked shots, 2.3 assists and 2.3 steals per outing while converting 68.1% (32-47) of her shots from the floor. Collins recorded her first double-double of the week on 26 points and 10 boards in Babson's 67-35 victory over Worcester State University on Monday. Two days later, she was dominant in her team's 65-35 win over NEWMAC. The center nearly posted a triple-double with her 19 points, 14 rebounds and nine blocked shots in the contest. She also chipped in with four assists from the post. Collins closed out the week with her third double-double in Babson's 62-49 win at Smith College on Saturday. In addition to totaling 27 points and 15 boards, she also added three blocks and a pair of steals. It was the Beavers' 27th straight win in NEWMAC play.

University of Massachusetts Boston first year guard Kendra Mosley has been named NEWBA Rookie of the Week for the week of November 29 - December 5. Mosley amassed 17.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.5 steals per game in a perfect 2-0 week for the Beacons. She knocked down 37.9% (11-29) of her shots from the floor, including 36.8% (7-19) from beyond the arc. Mosley was at her best in UMass Boston's thrilling 57-55 overtime triumph over Keene State College on Saturday, when she recorded a double-double on 21 points and 11 boards. She exploded for 11 points in the extra session, draining three treys. The guard added 13 points in her team's 72-42 win over Wheelock College on Thursday. UMass Boston has posted a 6-1 mark over the first three weeks of the season to match its best start in program history.

• Alicia Doucet, Plymouth State University (Jr, F, Manchester, N.H.) - Doucet racked up 24.3 points and 6.7 rebounds per game in a perfect 3-0 week for Plymouth State University. After scoring 19 points in the Panthers' 78-74 victory over Colby-Sawyer College on Tuesday, she poured in 28 points in their 67-60 triumph at Salem State University on Thursday. The forward closed out her week with 26 points in an 84-80 victory over the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. She knocked down 29 free throws over the course of the week.
• Jill Henrikson, Bowdoin College (Jr, G, Bath, Maine) - Henrikson led Bowdoin College to a pair of wins over in-state rivals, leading all scorers in both contests. She knocked down 45.8% (11-24) of her shots from the field en route to a points per game average of 17.5. The guard totaled 18 points and five rebounds in the Polar Bears' 63-51 triumph over the University of Southern Maine on Tuesday. She then collected 16 points in her team's 70-64 win over nationally ranked Colby College on Saturday. Henrikson drained five three-pointers in her two games.
• Shannon Wood, Mount Ida College (Jr, G, Gorham, Maine) - Wood amassed 20.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.5 steals per outing in leading Mount Ida College to a 2-0 week. The guard was at her best in the Mustangs' 70-58 triumph over the Wentworth Institute of Technology on Saturday. In addition to recording 25 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the floor, she also added eight rebounds and five assists. Wood drained three treys in the contest. She tallied 15 points in her team's 67-60 win over Becker College on Tuesday.
• Melissa Teel, Western Connecticut State University (Sr, C, Hamden, Conn.) - Teel averaged 15.5 points, 12.0 rebounds, 3.0 blocks and 2.5 assists in a 2-0 week for Western Connecticut State University. She knocked down 55.6% (10-18) of her shots from the field and 78.6% (11-14) of her free throws. The center posted a double-double on 19 points and 16 boards in the Colonials' 71-55 win over the University of Southern Maine on Saturday. Four days earlier, she posted 12 points and eight rebounds in a 54-41 victory over Connecticut College.
• Taylor Shea, Williams College (Sr, F, Allendale, N.J.) - Shea tallied 13.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game in leading Williams College to three wins. She was named Most Valuable Player of the Williams Holiday Classic after leading her team's to a pair of wins. She was at her best in the Ephs' 58-47 victory in the opening round of the tournament on Friday, when she posted a double-double on 21 points and 11 boards. The forward then collected 12 points and eight rebounds in her team's 68-50 triumph over Skidmore College in the championship the following day. Williams is off to a 7-0 start this season.

• Lesley University senior forward Kaitlyn Wechsler became the fourth player in program history to reach 1,000 career points with her 13 against Emmanuel College on November 16.
