Williams College senior forward Chessie Jackson has earned the NEWBA/PrestoSports Player of the Week award Chessie Jackson for the week of January 17-23. Jackson led the Ephs to convincing victories over Connecticut College and Wesleyan University. The forward drained 11 three-pointers en route to a points per game average of 30.0. She also chipped in with 6.0 rebounds per outing, seven assists, six blocked shots and four steals. Jackson converted 59.5% (22-37) of her shots from the field and 83.3% (5-6) of her free throw attempts. She was at her best on Saturday, when she poured in a career best 31 points in her team's 82-48 triumph over Wesleyan. The forward tallied 29 of her 31 in the first half, as she singlehandedly outscored the Cardinals 29-22. One day earlier, Jackson amassed 29 points, five assists, four blocks and three steals in a 72-47 win over Connecticut College.

University of Massachusetts Dartmouth first year forward Erika Bornemann has been named NEWBA Rookie of  the Week for the week of January 17-23. Erika Bornemann Bornemann posted 17.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per game in a perfect 2-0 week for the Corsairs. The forward knocked down 57.7% (15-26) of her shots from the floor and 75.0% (3-4) of her free throw attempts. She got her week started with a 14-point, nine-rebound performance in her team's 57-49 triumph over the University of Massachusetts Boston on Tuesday. Bornemann then recorded a double-double on 20 points and 12 boards in UMass Dartmouth's 88-54 victory over Plymouth State University on Saturday. She also finished with three assists and four blocked shots in the contest.

  • Jen Wehner, Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (Jr, F, Cooperstown, N.Y.) - Wehner exploded for 22.0 points and 16.6 rebounds per game in a pair of MASCAC wins. The forward netted 51.7% (15-29) of her shots from the field and 73.7% (14-19) of her free throws. She was nearly unstoppable in her team's 63-53 win over Framingham State University on Thursday, when she racked up 27 points and 21 boards (11 offensive). Two days later, she finished with her 12th straight double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds in a 75-65 victory over Fitchburg State University. She also had six blocked shots in the contest.
  • Alycia Gervais, Daniel Webster College (Jr, F, Windham, N.H.) - Gervais led Daniel Webster College to a perfect 3-0 week with her outstanding all-around play. The forward delivered 22.3 points and 12.7 rebojnds per outing to go with nine assists. After recording 24 oints and eight boards in an 80-30 victory at Bay Path College on Monday, she collected 22 points and 11 rebounds in a 79-44 triumph over Mitchell College on Thursday. Gervais rounded out her week with 21 points and 16 boards in her team's 76-50 win at Elms College on Saturday. Her six three-pointers and seven assists were both career highs. She now has nine double-doubles this season.
  • Nicole Wurdeman, Babson College (Jr, F, Rowley, Mass.) - Wurdeman helped nationally ranked Babson College remain unbeaten with her 27.0 points and 12.0 rebounds per game this week. The forward drained 58.8% (20-34) of her shots from the field and 92.3% (12-13) of her free throw attempts in wins over Clark University and Springfield College. After posting 26 points and 10 rebounds in her team's 85-54 win over Clark on Wednesday, she amassed 28 points and 16 boards in a 66-45 victory over Springfield College on Saturday. Over the course of the week, Wurdeman tallied three assists, seven steals and four blocked shots.
  • Christine Daniels, Norwich University (Sr, F, Concord, N.H.) - Daniels averaged 20.5 points and 18.0 rebounds per game in a 1-1 week for Norwich University. The forward has posted double-double in all 16 of her team's games this season and currently leads the nation in the category. She erupted for 24 points and 23 boards in the Cadets's 80-69 triumph over Mount Ida College on Wednesday. Three days later, she collected 17 points and 13 rebounds in an 86-53 setback versus Emmanuel College. In the process, she went over 800 career boards and needs just 26 points to reach 1,000.
  • Jules Kowalski, Colby College (Sr, F, Montville, N.J.) - Kowalski guided Colby College to a pair of NESCAC victories with her 15.5 points and 14.0 rebounds per outing. After recording 18 points and 16 boards in her team's thrilling 90-88 triple overtime triumph over Bates College on Friday, she totaled 14 points and 12 rebounds in a 67-54 win over Tufts University. The forward converted 47.8% (11-23) of her shots from the field and 80.0% (8-10) of her free throw attempts in the two contests. She also collected four blocked shots.

  • Rhode Island College junior guard Stephanie Coro became the 12th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points on Thursday, when she delivered 15 points in an 85-83 triumph over Trinity College.
