NEWBA Announces Weekly Awards for December 4

Casanueva led the Judges to a 2-0 week, playing 79 of a possible 80 minutes and averaging 23.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, four assists and four steals per game while shooting 56.5 percent from the field, 63.6 percent from 3-point range and 93.3 percent from the free throw line. She scored 30 points in a 74-61 win at Salem State on Tuesday, becoming the first Judge to reach that plateau since 2010. Casanueva also recorded eight rebounds, six steals and three assists in the victory. In a 77-60 triumph over Johnson & Wales on Saturday, she fell just short of her first career double-double with 17 points, nine boards, five assists and two steals.


Keagan Dunbar
Colby College
Freshman • Guard • Middlebury, Vt.

Dunbar averaged 21.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game in a 1-1 week for the Mules. In a triple overtime win over Husson on Wednesday, she posted a double-double with 22 points, ten rebounds and five assists. Dunbar then turned in a 21-point, four-rebound effort in a 79-49 setback to Bowdoin on Saturday.

  • Emily Benway, Saint Joseph’s (Maine) (Senior | Forward | Rochester, N.H.) - Benway averaged 18.0 points and 13.5 rebounds while shooting 53.3% (16-30) from the floor in a pair of victories for the Monks last week. In a 93-71 win over Bates on Saturday, the senior forward scored 24 points on an 11-of-17 shooting performance to become the 24th member of the Monks' 1,000-point club. She posted a pair of double-doubles on the week as she grabbed 12 rebounds in the win over Bates and scored 12 points with a career-high 15 rebounds in a 71-55 triumph over University of New England on Wednesday.
  • Lauren Bondi, Smith (Senior | Guard | Burnaby, British Columbia) - Bondi averaged 23.0 points and 4.0 assists per game in a 1-1 week for the Pioneers. Against Springfield on Wednesday, Bondi posted 14 points and added four assists. In Smith's 86-62 win at Babson on Saturday, she finished with a career-high 32 points and set a program record for three-pointers in a game with her 10-of-14 performance. The Burnaby, British Columbia native shot 50 percent from the field and 54.5 percent from three-point range for the week.
  • Jenni-Rose DiCecco, Suffolk (Sophomore | Guard | Falmouth, Mass.) - DiCecco led Suffolk to a 2-1 week, averaging 18.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.3 steals per game. She opened the week with 20 points, six rebounds, six steals and five assists in a 75-41 win over Curry on Monday. DiCecco turned in another 20-point effort to go with nine boards and three steals in a 68-58 setback to Bridgewater State on Thursday, before wrapping up the week with 16 points, six rebounds and six assists in a 57-45 triumph over St. Joseph (Conn.) on Saturday.
  • Melissa Gray, Westfield State (Sophomore | Forward | Peabody, Mass.) - Gray averaged 20.5 points per game and shot 51.9 percent (7-13) from three-point range as Westfield topped Regis 103-84 and fell to NYU 79-74 on Wednesday and Saturday, respectively. She also contributed 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game for the week. In the win over Regis, Gray scored a career-high 24 points, connecting on four of seven shots behind the arc, and also grabbed five rebounds. She finished with 17 points, four rebounds and two steals in the loss at NYU.
  • Kenzie Worcester, Husson (Senior | Guard | Washburn, Maine) -  Worcester helped the Eagles to a 2-1 week while averaging 21.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. She produced 29 points, eight rebounds and six assists in a 85-78, triple-overtime loss to Colby on Wednesday, in the process surpassing the 1,400-point mark for her career. In the final game of the week on Saturday, she scored 24 points to go with seven boards and three assists in an 86-43 win at Northern Vermont-Johnson.
