NEWBA Announces Weekly Awards for Nov. 13

McNamara averaged 23.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game to help the Monks claim the Curry College Tip-Off Tournament Championship over the weekend. The senior guard netted 25 points in a lopsided win over Eastern Nazarene on Friday and added 22 points in the championship win over Framingham State on Saturday. She shot 92.9% (13-14) from the free throw line over the two games.

Freshman • Center • Altus, Okla.

Harris had a strong weekend to start her collegiate career, averaging 10.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, 1.0 steals and 1.0 assists per game off the bench as the Huskies went 2-0. In her first college game, Harris was 3-for-8 from the field for eight points to go with six rebounds, two assists and a blocked shot in a 71-44 win over UMaine Farmington. Against Thomas, a 55-36 win, Harris was 5-for-7 from the floor (71.4 percent) for 13 points, adding four rebounds, two steals and three blocked shots.

  • Catherine Coppinger, Fitchburg State (Junior | Guard | Boston, Mass.) - In Fitchburg State’s season-opening win at Rivier on Thursday, Coppinger posted a double-double with 18 points, 13 rebounds and five assists. She shot 7of-12 from the field and 3-for-4 from the free throw line.
  • Kara Holinski, MIT (Senior | Guard | Livonia, Mich.) - In a 2-0 week for MIT, Holinski averaged 16.5 points and 4.5 assists while shooting 50 percent (12-24) from the floor and 56.3 percent (9-16) from three-point range. Last Thursday in a 78-46 win at Simmons, she opened the season by tallying 13 points, five assists, two steals, and a block while going 5-of-9 from the floor and 3-of-5 from behind the arc in 26 minutes of action. Holinski then produced 20 points (7-15 FG, 6-11 3FG), four assists, and four rebounds while playing all 40 minutes in a 65-57 win at Endicott on Sunday.
  • Niah Pantry, Elms (Senior | Forward | New Haven, Conn.) - Pantry powered the Blazers to a 70-53 win over Wentworth on Saturday with a double-double performance, as she totaled 23 points, 15 rebounds, one block, one steal and one assist. Pantry made 9-of-15 field goals and 5-of-8 free throws.
  • Alyssa Stefanelli, Western New England (Junior | Forward | Chicopee, Mass.) - Stefanelli posted her first career double-double with career-highs in both points (20) and rebounds (11) in Western New England's season-opening win over Suffolk on Saturday. Stefanelli, who scored 15 of her 20 points in the second half as the Golden Bears overcame a 13-point deficit, shot 8-of-11 from the field, making both of her three-point attempts. 
  • Tianna Sugars, Colby-Sawyer (Junior | Center | Oxford, Maine) - Sugars, who was named GNAC Player of the Week, led the Chargers to a win in their season opener with game-highs of 18 points and 16 rebounds. The junior shot 50% from the floor (8-of-16) and added five steals and three blocks in the team's 74-47 win over SUNY Delhi.
