Senior guard Giovanna Pickering of Babson College is the Presto Sports NEWBA Player of the Week for games played from January 9-15. Pickering averaged 22.3 points, 5.3 assists, 4.0 steals and 3.7 rebounds per game while shooting 57.5 percent from the field in a 3-0 week for Babson. She scored a career-high 29 points on 9-of-15 shooting in Tuesday's win at Coast Guard, and followed that up with 26 points on 10-of-15 shooting to go along with five rebounds and four steals in Thursday's 80-60 victory over Emerson. On Saturday, Pickering finished with 12 points, a career-high nine assists and four more steals as the Beavers defeated Clark, 84-51.

Freshman • Guard • Charlton, Mass.

Freshman guard Alexis Hackett of Suffolk University earns NEWBA Rookie of the Week honors after helping lead the Rams to a 3-0 week. Hackett averaged 13.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, 1.7 blocks and 1.3 assists per game while shooting 40% from the field and 83.3% from the free throw line. She opened her week with 18 points, six rebounds and three blocks in a 66-59 win at Anna Maria on Tuesday, before posting a double-double with 13 points, 14 boards and three assists in a 71-53 victory over Albertus Magnus on Thursday. Hackett capped her week with ten points, six rebounds and one block as Suffolk rolled to an 81-50 victory over Mount Ida on Saturday.

  • Allie Coppola, Bates (Sr., F, Tarrytown, N.Y.) - Coppola scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in Bates' win at Hamilton on Friday. She followed that with a career-high 27 points with 12 rebounds in a loss at Middlebury on Saturday, her fourth double-double in a row. Coppola averaged 24.5 points on .514 shooting from the field and .500 (2-4) from the three-point line, along with 11.0 rebounds per game in a 1-1 week.
  • Lexis Foster, Eastern Connecticut State (Sr., C, Groton, Conn.) - In three games, two of them wins in Little East Conference play, Foster averaged 13.0 points and 10.3 rebounds with a 54.2 field goal percentage and 81.3 free throw percentage (13-of-16) and a total of 18 blocked shots. In a 90-67 road win over UMass Boston Saturday Foster broke two program records for blocks, including the single-game record with eight. In a road loss at Sage College, she had a season-high 18 points (one shy of her career-high), equaled her career-high with 13 rebounds and equaled her program record of seven blocks. Against UMass Boston, Foster had 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the floor with nine rebounds and three assists.
  • Kara Holinski, MIT (So., G, Livonia, Mich.)In a 2-0 week for MIT, Holinski averaged 21.5 points while shooting 49% from the field and 58% from three-point range, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals, and 1.5 assists while playing all but five minutes. Last Thursday in a 67-49 win at Wheaton, she posted a game-high 25 points on 9-of-18 shooting as her performance from three-point range (7-of-12) tied the MIT record for three-pointers in game. Holinski followed that up with the first double-double of her career in Saturday's 47-44 win over Wellesley. She led all players with 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in addition to generating three assists and three steals.
  • Maria Jackson, Brandeis (So., F, Rochester, N.Y.) - Jackson led the Judges in scoring and rebounding in a 1-1 week. She posted her second-straight double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds while holding Division III's leading scorer eight points below her season scoring average in a 65-58 loss to No. 15 Carnegie Mellon. In an 81-69 win over Case Western Reserve, she scored 22 points and grabbed eight rebounds as the Judges handed the Spartans their first UAA loss. The 22 points represented a career-high. Eight of her 22 points came in the third quarter, when the Judges hit 13 of 17 shots. 
  • Kelsi McNamara, St. Joseph's (So., G, West Newbury, Mass.)McNamara averaged 18.5 points, 6.3 assists, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.3 steals per game in a 3-0 conference week for Saint Joseph's. The sophomore guard netted 18 points with nine assists, three steals, and three boards in a 62-44 victory over Johnson & Wales on Tuesday and capped the week with an outstanding performance, scoring 29 points while shooting 10-15 from the field, 5-7 from three-point distance, and 4-4 from the free throw line in a 71-54 triumph over Rivier University on Saturday.
  • Kenzie Worcester, Husson (So., G, Washburn, Maine) - Worcester averaged 16.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.7 steals per game as Husson set a program record with 18 straight home victories. In an 87-37 win over Thomas, the sophomore netted a career high 24 points while connecting on 8-of-10 field goals.

Milestones
• WPI head coach Cherise Galasso reached the 300-win mark for her career with last Thursday's 74-42 win at Mount Holyoke. Galasso, who also coached at Regis for three seasons, owns a 300-217 career record (.580) and is 265-179 (.597) in 17 seasons at WPI.
