Alanna Vose of the University of New England is the NEWBA/Prestosports Player of the Week for January 19. In a 3-0 week for UNE, Vose averaged 20.7 points on 52 percent shooting from the floor and 55 percent from long range. Also had 5.7 rebounds playing in 27.0 minutes. At Western New England, she scored a career-high 29 points (seven more than the previous high) and had a team-best eight rebounds. All of her 18 second-half points came in the final 11 minutes, including three consecutive treys to bump the lead up from 41-37 into double digits, and those 18 points matched the Golden Bears' production in the period. She finished the contest with eight 3-pointers, one shy of the program single-game record from six seasons ago.

Biney shot a sizzling 67.9% from the field to help WPI to a pair of victories in a three-game week.  The freshman guard began her week by draining 6-of-7 shots from the floor and registering 14 points in a home victory over Mount Holyoke.  After stuffing the stat sheets with 15 points, eight rebounds, three steals and a block in a loss at Babson, Biney led all scorers with 15 points and pitched in with three steals as the Engineers improved to 3-0 at home in 2015 with a win against city rival Clark.

  • Denisha Parks, Elms College (Sr., F, Fall River, Mass.) - Parks reached 20+ points three times for the Blazers, shooting 53.8% from the field.  After scoring 23 points with seven boards against Becker, Parks added 22 points, 12 rebounds, and six steals against Lesley and had 25 points against Regis.
  • Shannon Brady, Bowdoin College (Jr., F, Scituate, Mass.) - In two NESCAC wins for the Polar Bears, Brady averaged 18 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocked shots.  The junior chipped in 16 points and nine boards in a road win against Williams, then added a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds with three blocked shots in a victory over Hamilton.
  • Kristina Forsman (Sr., G, Newington, Conn.) - Forsman led both teams in scoring in two Little East Conference wins by an average of 20.5 points that moved the Warriors into a share of first place in the conference. Entering the week shooting less than 30 percent from the floor, Forsman shot 59.1 percent from the floor and was also 5-for-9 from three-point range and 5-for-5 from the foul line. Forsman had a season-high 22 points against unbeaten conference leader UMass Dartmouth in a 64-41 win, scoring 18 points in the second half on 7-for-8 field goal shooting. She also hit both of her three-point field goal tries and both of her free throws in the second half. In a 62-44 triumph over the University of Southern Maine, Forsman added 14 points. She was 5-for-9 from the floor in that game, including 3-for-5 from three-point range.
  • Heather LeBlanc, Norwich University (So., F, Sanford, Maine) - LeBlanc had a stellar week for the Norwich University women's basketball team, leading the squad by averaging 22 points per game and 10 rebounds per game in the Cadets' 1-1 week. LeBlanc started the week by leading the Cadets to a 74-70 win over St. Joseph (Conn.) with a team-high 24 points and nine rebounds. LeBlanc added her fourth double-doubles of the season after a tight 59-57 loss to Emmanuel, putting up 20 points and 11 rebounds to close out the week with a 76.9 percent shooting percentage from the field. 
  • Grace Geary, UMass Boston (Fr., G, Falmouth, Mass.) - Geary led the Beacons in scoring in all three contests this week to help UMass Boston to a 3-0 record, including a pair of conference road victories. She poured in a career-high 27 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the field and 4-of-5 shooting from distance, to pace the Beacons at Plymouth State. Saturday, she added 16 points, five assists and six rebounds to help UMass Boston earn their first win at Western Connecticut State since 2004.
