Heather LeBlanc of Norwich University is the NEWBA/Prestosports Player of the Week for February 9.  LeBlanc had a stellar performance as the Cadets went 2-0 on the week. LeBlanc, who collected her fifth and sixth double-doubles in the win, shot 65.2 (15-of-23) percent from the field and 58.3 (7-of-1) from the charity stripe to end the week averaging 18.5 points per game. LeBlanc posted a team-high 21 points and 16 rebounds in the win against Plymouth State before helping the Cadets top conference foe, Saint Joseph's College of Maine with 16 points and 11 rebounds in the 62-51 victory. LeBlanc also was a contender in the backcourt, pulling down 13.5 rebounds per game on the week. LeBlanc tops the league in field goal percent with 55.1 and is ranked sixth in the league overall with 9.8 rebounds per game with 205 total rebounds on the year.

Biney drained 9-of-15 shots from field as the Crimson and Gray went 1-1 last week in conference play. The freshman posted identical totals of 13 points and six rebounds in both contests (at Clark and vs. Smith) while totaling four assists and two steals for the 14-7 Engineers.

  • Christan Wojtas, Keene State College (Sr., G, Amherst, N.H.) - In the Owls lone game last week, Wojtas lit up for net for a career high 27 points in KSC's win over Rhode Island College.  The senior was 11-for-17 from the field, including 5-for-10 from three point range, adding four rebounds and a blocked shot.
  • Mackenzie Griffin, Trinity College (CT) (Jr., C, Stamford, Conn.) - Griffin averaged a double-double in four games last week for Trinity.  She had 17 points and 12 boards against Rivier, then added 22 points and 18 rebounds against Wesleyan and 24 points and 10 more rebounds against Connecticut College. 
  • Kelly Coleman, University of New England (Sr., F, Portland, Conn.) - Coleman scored 17 points each in two wins during the week, while averaging 7.5 rebounds, 3.0 steals, and shooting 58 percent (14-24) from the field.  Against Wentworth she added nine rebounds and four steals, while grabbing six boards and two more steals against Salve Regina.
  • Janaya Bradley, Regis College (MA) (Sr., G, New Haven, Conn.) - Bradley helped lead the Pride to a 2-1 mark in games this week, including a pair of NECC wins. Bradley scored 21 points on 8-of-16 shooting to go with four rebounds, five steals, and three blocks in a 74-63 setback to Western Connecticut State. She followed that up with a career-high 29 points, going 7-for-9 from three, and added six rebounds, three assists, and a pair of steals in a 94-44 win over Bay Path. She wrapped up the week with 12 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and two more steals in a 77-61 win over Newbury.
  • Jaimie Bickelhaupt, Springfield College (Sr., F, Brookfield, Conn.) - Bickelhaupt posted a pair of impressive performances this past week, leading to two NEWMAC victories for the Pride over Smith College and Emerson. Bickelhaupt averaged 14.5 points, 12 rebounds and 1.5 steals per contest, while she also notched her 1000th career point in a 56-52 win over Smith College. Bickelhaupt now has a team-high 12 double-doubles on the year.

  • Coleman, mentioned above, is now sixth all-time on the scoring list at the University of New England with 1,356 points
  • Megan Pelletier of the University of Southern Maine became the 28th player in school history to reach the 1,000 point mark for her career
