Kelsey Cahill, of Colby-Sawyer College is the NEWBA/Prestosports Player of the Week for February 17.  Cahill led the Chargets to a pair of North Atlantic Conference wins last week with 20.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. She began the week with 21 points and 11 rebounds as the Chargers handed Castleton its first conference loss of the season 66-56. She followed with a 19-point, six rebound effort in a 72-50 win over New England College. Cahill shot 60.7 percent for the week, while adding 3.0 blocks, 4.0 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.

Coppola led the Bobcats to a 1-1 week to earn the NEWBA/Prestosports Rookie of the Week Award.  Coppola scored 19 points and pulled down eight rebounds in a loss to No. 22 Bowdoin, then posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds in a 67-40 win over Colby College.

  • Meredith Kelly, Bates College (Sr., G, Cohasset, Mass.) - Bates senior guard Kelly averaged 22.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals on the week. She finished the season with a 21.6 points-per-game scoring average, breaking the former team record of 20.0 set by Julia Roche in 1989-90. Kelly also became Bates' first player to score 500 points in a season en route to 24 points in a 67-40 win over Colby in the Bobcats' season finale on Saturday.
  • Chelsea Vujs, Western New England University (So., G, Berlin, Conn.) - Vujs led the Golden Bears during a 1-1 week with 21.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game versus Commonwealth Coast Conference competition. In the first of back-to-back road games, she scored a career- and game-high 28 points--including three 3-pointers--and grabbed a game-best 12 rebounds in a close win at Wentworth. She scored seven points during a 9-0 run that turned a 42-38 deficit into 47-42 lead and WNE wouldn't trail again against the Leopards. Overall, she shot 51.6 percent from the field (16-31) and had six steals.
  • Linnett Graber, Babson College (So., F, Roseland, N.H.) - Graber had a tremendous week averaging 16.5 points and 6.0 rebounds while shooting 57.1 percent (12-for-21) from the floor and 100 percent (6-for-6) from the free throw line as the Beavers picked up a pair of victories. The sophomore forward netted 16 points and pulled down seven boards as Babson rallied from a 19-point halftime deficit to hand fifth-ranked Tufts its first loss, 58-52, on Tuesday. Graber followed it up with a team-high 17 points and five rebounds in Saturday's 63-58 come-from-behind 68-63 victory over first-place Wheaton on Saturday. 
  • Amber Legare, Mount Holyoke College (Jr., F, Chicopee, Mass.) - Legare broke the MHC single-game rebounding record, which had stood since 1985-86, pouring in 26 boards to go along with 20 points in a 68-60 victory over Emerson. It was also her 13th double-double of the season and fourth in a row. For the week, Legare was critical to the Lyons on both ends of the court, averaging 18.5 points and 18.5 rebounds over two contests, in which MHC went 1-1. Legare, who added two assists, four blocks and a steal, continues to lead the NEWMAC in rebounding and is now second in scoring.
  • Jen Ashton, Westfield State University (Jr., G, Beverly, Mass.) - The junior guard averaged 17 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 4.5 steals and two blocks in a 2-0 week for the Owls. Tallied 23 points, including her 1,000th career point, nine rebounds, four assists, three blocks and two steals in the 67-50 win over Salem State. Totaled 11 points, six rebounds, seven assists, seven steals and a block in the 62-51 win at Worcester State.
