NEWBA Selects Award Winners For January 23

Cirillo Senior forward Courtney Cirillo has earned the NEWBA/PrestoSports Player of the Week Award after leading Keene State College to a pair of Little East Conference victories. Cirillo racked up 23.0 points and 15.0 rebounds per game while converting 40.0% (10-25) of her shots from the field and 92.9% (26-28) of her free throws. She also chipped in with five assists and five steals. The forward was at her best on Saturday, when she erupted for 29 points and 13 rebounds in a 77-65 triumph at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. In the process, she established a new program record by draining all 17 of her attempts from the charity stripe. Cirillo also posted a double-double on 17 points and 17 rebounds in her team's 70-42 win over Plymouth State University on Tuesday. Her 17 boards in the contest were a career high.

Parks Denisha Parks

Parks First year forward Denisha Parks has earned the NEWBA Rookie of the Week Award after leading Elms College to a perfect 3-0 record with her outstanding play in the post. This is the third time this year that she has earned the award. Parks averaged 17.0 points and 17.0 rebounds per game while knocking down 46.8% (22-7) of her shots from the floor. The forward finishes with double-doubles in all three contests. Her best effort came in a 72-61 win over Bay Path on Thursday, when she erupted for 21 points and 18 boards. Two days earlier, Parks led the Blazers to a 66-39 triumph at Wheelock with her 14 points and 17 rebounds. She closed out her week with 16 points and 16 boards in a 52-47 triumph over Daniel Webster College on Saturday.

  • Emilee Marro, Regis College (Fy, G, Bedford, N.H.) - Marro amassed 14.0 pints and 7.0 rebounds per game in a perfect 3-0 week for the Pride. She knocked down 62.1% (18-29) of her shots from the field in lopsided wins over Newbury College, Southern Vermont College and Mitchell College. Regis is now 9-0 in NECC play.
  • Rachel Riley, Rhode Island College (Sr, F, Coventry, R.I.) - Riley helped the Anchorwomen run their winning streak to 11 with her outstanding play in the post. The forward averaged a double-double on 14.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. She finished with 18 points and eight boards in a 62-23 triumph over the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth on Tuesday.
  • Rachael Mack, Colby College (Sr, F, Augusta, Maine) - Mack averaged 14.7 points and 6.7 rebounds per game in a 2-1 week for the Mules. She was at her best in a 60-56 win over Trinity College on Friday, when she piled up 18 points and nine boards. The forward tallied 14 points in a heartbreaking 51-50 setback against top-ranked Amherst College on Saturday. Over the course of the week, she drained six three-pointers.
  • Taylor DeSanty, Colby-Sawyer College (Jr, G, North Adams, Mass.) - DeSanty poured in 25.5 points per game behind 70.0% (21-30) shooting from the floor in a 1-1 week for the Chargers. She was nearly unstoppable from long range, knocking down seven three-pointers in nine atte,pts. The guard scored a career-best 30 points in a 92-81 triumph over New England College on Saturday. 
  • Lindsay Moore, St. Joseph's College (So, F, Barrington, N.H.) - Moore tallied 15.7 points and 8.0 rebounds per game in a 3-0 week for the Monks. She erupted for a career-high 26 points on 12-of-14 shooting from the floor in an 85-49 victory over Johnson and Wales University on Saturday. It was her team's seventh consecutive win.
